Work For Us
Apunipima is a great place to work, with opportunities to grow and develop and an environment of respect for you as an individual, the community and the environment. With a range of career options and career path ways in Cairns and throughout Cape York, we create opportunities for all of our people to grow, both personally and professionally.
We have big ideas that lead to even bigger opportunities while offering generous benefits to all employees. Every employee at Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a valued and integral member of the team who, together, make a significant difference to the health outcomes of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Cape York deserves the best quality primary health services and the best quality people.
Community Based Roles
Fly In Fly Out (FIFO)
We provide you with the opportunity to work and support the people of Cape York on a FIFO or drive in drive out basis, and have staff based in Cairns, Weipa and Cooktown who then fly or drive to the communities they service.
Short Term Contracts and Locums
Terms and Conditions
With our own Enterprise Agreement in place, we offer above average salary and conditions. Our terms and conditions aim to attract and retain the best, including five weeks annual leave and time off in lieu. You can view a copy of our current Enterprise Agreement here.
As a public benevolent institution (PBI) we are able to offer you generous salary sacrifice options. That's because when you work for us, the Government allows you to take part of your income as tax-free benefits. Make the most of your hard-earned dollars by using it for your rent or mortgage, or even a Salary Packaging Card to pay for everyday purchases such as petrol, clothing, eating out or even the weekly groceries. For more information go to www.eziway.net.au
Staff are paid a remote allowance if they permanently reside in Cape York and undertake their substantive duties in Cape York communities
We recognise that our employees maybe required to be away from work for ceremonial or ethnic tradition purposes and provide up to ten unpaid working days per year
Our staff are passionate about supporting NAIDOC day - Apunipima recognises this passion and supports NAIDOC day by providing staff with a day off to attend celebrations
We strongly support training and development that increases our capacity, capability and competence to provide culturally safe health services to the people of Cape York. We are also committed to increased numbers and capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people entering and working in the primary health workforce (consistent with the COAG strategy of Closing the Gap, and living and working in Cape York communities.)
