Apunipima Cape York Health Council are pleased to announce the sponsoring of the Australian Indigenous All-Stars Men’s National Basketball Team for the second year running.
As the 2017 naming sponsors, Apunipima will work with the All-Stars to promote their local ‘Don’t Make Smoke’s Your Story’ and ‘Sugary Drinks Proper No Good – Drink More Water Youfla’ campaigns across Cape York Communities.
Apunipima Acting CEO Paula Arnol is excited for the organisation to be sponsoring the All-Stars for the second year, saying “The athletes are good role models as they promote healthy lifestyles which fits in well with our two current social marketing campaigns – ‘Don’t Make Smoke’s Your Story’ and ‘Sugary Drinks Proper No Good – Drink More Water Youfla.
The sponsorship will allow the national representative side to travel to Canada later this year to compete in the World Indigenous Basketball Challenge.
All-Stars Head Coach Joel Khalu said, “The Australian Indigenous Basketball All Stars National Team are thrilled to be renewing this partnership with Apunipima Cape York Health Council.”

“It’s certainly a big year for Australian Indigenous Basketball with the World Championships in Vancouver and then the Trans-Tasman series against the New Zealand Maori National team later in the year and we are excited to have Apunipima with us for the journey.”
The All-Stars will also be competing in the 4th Annual Trans-Tasman Series against the New Zealand Maori Men’s National Team, which is set to take place in Cairns later this year.
