The ADLO Program

Apunipima provides culturally safe, dedicated support to Cape York families and individuals living with a disability and/or significant impairment, through an Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer (ADLO). ADLOs help individuals and families access and understand the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), ensuring services are tailored to community needs and respectful of culture.

Who we can help

This program is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Cape York who:

  • Live with disability or care for someone who does
  • Need assistance navigating the NDIS
  • Want advocacy and support to access disability services

Our ADLO (Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer)  is Cairns-based and travels regularly to community to offer one-on-one assistance, and to engage with community groups and existing NDIS recipients.
