Support for those who need it
Apunipima Cape York Health Council takes a holistic approach to maintaining health and providing care, and an important part of this is social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB). Apunipima provides a number of services and outreach programs to support the mental health and connections that are important to Cape York people, offering a shame-free and culturally safe place to seek support.
What is Social and Emotional Wellbeing?
SEWB is a concept of health that involves connection to land or ‘country’, culture, spirituality, ancestry, family and community but also includes mental health. It’s an integral part of overall health and wellbeing for the people of Cape York, and SEWB services also help to address some of the social determinants of health which we know are critical in achieving better health outcomes for people in our remote communities.
