As a community controlled health service provider, Apunipima is in the unique position of having three main governance streams.
1. Corporate governance underpinned by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.
2. Clinical governance set by national clinical standards including the Royal Australian General Practice Guidelines, the Primary and Clinical Care Manual and the Chronic Disease Guidelines.
As community controlled membership organisation, Apunipima is accountable to its members and governed at a corporate level by its Board (elected and skills – based) and community based Health Action Teams who set local priorities and hold the Board and Management Team accountable for service delivery in their communities.
By maintaining robust governance systems across all areas, Apunipima has achieved ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance Certification for its management systems, unqualified reports following audits of our financial systems and AGPAL accreditation for our clinical service delivery at our only fully community controlled clinic in Mossman Gorge.
