Apunipima’s reach in Cape York

Apunipima delivers comprehensive primary health care, visiting and outreach services, and social and emotional wellbeing service and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living in Cape York communities. The Cape York communities are some of the most remote in the country, spread across an area of around 288,800km2, with varying access by air and by road and a wet season which limits access to many areas.

The types of service we’re able to provide in each community varies based on many factors, including whether we have an established primary health care or wellbeing centre. We advocate for all Cape York Communities and provide non-clinical and outreach services in 11 Cape York communities. We have established six (6) Primary Health Care Centres and four (4) Wellbeing Centres throughout the Cape (excluding NPA), and where we have a primary health care centre, we are able to offer comprehensive primary health care services.
