It’s that time of year again where everyone is telling us to get a flu jab! The flu is always around, but it is usually worse during the cooler months of the year, and the “flu season” blows around just before winter each year in Australia. Although we don’t get the really chilly weather up here, the flu still travels up this part of the country.

It seems like there’s a never-ending list of jabs we need to get, but getting a flu jab from your local Apunipima clinic each year is important. It’s best to know the benefits so you can make the right choice for yourself.

Getting a flu jab protects you

Getting a flu jab can protect you from getting really sick from flu. It’s not a guarantee, but it is one of the best things you can do to protect your body if you do get the flu.

Getting a flu jab protects your family

Bubs under 6 months can’t get the flu jab, but if you and the people around bub are vaccinated, it can reduce the chance of them getting really sick with the flu.

Anyone can get really sick from the flu, but bubs, kids and Elders especially can get really sick from the flu. Same with your family, so the more people that are vaccinated around Community, the better the protection against the flu for everyone.

The flu changes and can be different each flu season

Had your jab last year? Me too, but the flu jab mix changes each year based on which type of flu is expected to be bad, so it’s important to keep up to date and get one each year.

The flu jab is free, safe and quick. Call or visit your local Community  Apunipima clinic to get a flu jab today.
