Apunipima’s Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) team has taken out the 2026 National Indigenous Music Awards Community Clip of the Year for the song ‘All The Way From The NPA’.

Produced in partnership with NPA Family and Community Services and Grand Trine Creative, the award-winning music video was created as part of a community-led campaign developed to raise awareness of the harms of smoking and vaping.

Featuring 540 community members across 15 Cape York communities, the campaign produced 10 music videos which have attracted nationwide attention garnering about 150,000 views on YouTube.

Filmed in the NPA, All The Way From The NPA gave local residents and community organisations the chance to create and star in the clip which encourages the next generation to choose a healthier future.

Apunipima TIS Program Lead Josh Mene credits the campaign’s success to its community-led approach.

“It’s got a broad representation of community,” Josh said.

“You’ve got young people getting up in front of the camera, you’ve got elders getting up in front of the camera, you’ve got people in their 20s, 30s and 40s getting up in front of the camera— everybody’s sharing a message.”

Josh said the recognition highlights what can be achieved when communities lead the conversation, using culture, creativity and local voices to inspire healthier choices.

“What resonates with our project is all of the music videos are centred around a very important message for smoking and vaping.”

“It was good for people to see positive messages coming out of Cape communities.”

In the NPA, the TIS program is delivered in partnership with NPA Family and Community Services and we extend our thanks for their ongoing commitment to the program and their support for community-driven health promotion initiatives.

Apunipima would like to congratulation everyone involved. To find out more or view the campaign visit Apunipima’s YouTube channel at Apunipima Cape York Health Council – YouTube.
