Apunipima would like to congratulate Baby One Program Coordinator Clara Saleh, who has successfully completed her Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Management.
The diploma builds on Clara’s existing qualifications as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner. Originally from Pormpuraaw, she is a familiar face across the Cape with more than a decade of experience in the sector.
With qualified Aboriginal Health Care staff throughout its centres across Cape York Apunipima’s model of care provides a critical bridge ensuring our patients receive care that meets both their health and culturally needs.
Clara is the first of six Apunipima staff to complete the qualification through the Health Industry Training program, supported by Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council.
Clara said the new qualification has strengthened both her practice management skills and her ability to build relationships across the health system.
“It’s about strengthening relationships with our partner health services and knowing how to work collaboratively to get the best outcomes for our clients,” Clara said.
“Our main focus is always the client and making sure we provide that wraparound, client-centred support.”
